A Growing Legacy: From Local to Global

Since 2020, Guinea has hosted World Skin Health Day events with the support of ILDS, ISD, and international academic partnerships. These efforts have built a strong foundation of community outreach and dermatologic solidarity.

  • 2020 & 2021: 1,700+ consultations and treatments in the Loos Islands (Kassa)

  • 2022: 270+ individuals with albinism treated at John Paul II Hospital, including precancerous skin lesion care

  • 2023: 1,300+ patients reached during a regional campaign in Boké

  • 2024: Over 800 residents consulted and educated in Kindia

  • 2025: Held in Fria, the campaign provided free care to more than 645 patients, with strong participation from local and international teams.

In 2025, the outreach was elevated to a WDC-branded global event, complemented by an online international dermatology congress with 300+ scientific presentations.

Why It Matters

🧬 Skin diseases affect over 900 million people globally, with limited care options in many underserved areas.
